FAQ
1. What does Irish Utilities do?
We are a free, independent broker service that helps Irish businesses find the best deals on merchant services and energy contracts. We compare providers to save you time and money.
2. How is your service free? How do you make money?
Our service is completely free for businesses. We receive a small commission from the provider you choose to go with. This doesn't affect the price you pay; our goal is always to lower your costs.
3. Why should I use a broker instead of going directly to a provider?
We save you the hassle of contacting multiple providers and comparing complex offers. With our market expertise and relationships with suppliers, we can often access exclusive deals that aren't available to the public.
4. Is there an Obligation to switch if I get a quote?
Absolutely not. Our quotes are provided on a no-obligation basis. You are free to review the options we present and decide what's best for your business without any pressure.
5. What are merchant services?
Merchant services enable your business to accept credit and debit card payments from customers. This includes counter-top card machines, portable terminals, and online payment gateways.
6. I already have a card machine, can you still help?
Yes! Many businesses are overpaying on their current merchant service contracts. We can analyse your current bills and find a more competitive offer that could significantly reduce your transaction fees.
7. What kind of businesses do you help with merchant services?
We work with all types of businesses, from small retail shops and cafes to large restaurants, hotels, and online stores. If you take card payments, we can help you save.
8. How long does it take to switch my merchant services provider?
The process is surprisingly quick and seamless. Once you've chosen a new provider, we handle the paperwork, and you can be up and running with your new terminal, often within a few business days, with zero disruption.
9. Can you help my business save money on electricity and gas bills?
Definitely. The energy market is constantly changing. We compare the latest tariffs from all major business energy suppliers in Ireland to find a contract that lowers your costs.
10. My business is in a contract. When should I contact you?
The best time to contact us is within your contract's renewal window, typically 3-6 months before it expires. This gives us ample time to secure the best rates and avoid you being rolled onto expensive out-of-contract rates.
11. What information do you need to provide an energy quote?
All we need is a recent energy bill. This gives us the information required (like your MPRN/GPRN and usage) to get accurate quotes from suppliers.
12. Will my energy supply be interrupted if I switch?
No, your supply will not be interrupted. The switch is a simple administrative process. The pipes and wires remain the same; only the company that bills you and the rate you pay will change.
